The First Nations Residency Program is a creative residency offered to two First Nations Artists to develop new work, have space to work on existing work and engage with community on Cammeraygal land. The residency is hosted in North Sydney Council’s Alfred Street Artists’ Studios (Milsons Point).
The residency offers a mentorship opportunity with mili mili, a First Nations-led organisation directed by Yamaji Wajarri, Dutch and English designer and artist Nicole Monks.
The residency provides dedicated cultural support and creative mentorship to ensure a safe and respectful experience and will be additionally supported through a relationship with Cammeraygal elder, Auntie Jeanie Moran.
Who can apply?
The program is open to First Nations creative practitioners working across a range of disciplines including visual arts, design, performance, literature, arts writers, independent curators, interdisciplinary practices, new media and emerging technologies. While all art forms will be considered, the type of work produced must be conducive to the open plan nature of the spaces at Alfred Street.
